Apologies for Belated Christmas Newsletter

Counselling: So far this year we have had 122 new referrals, which is similar to the same time last year. (November). There is still enormous demand on the Mental Health Services, which is reflected in our referrals. Consequently, we continue to have a waiting list, due to the long-term nature of much of our work and a reduction in the number of our counsellors.

Once again, thanks go to our counsellors; Amanda, Annabel, Bebe, Carole, Christine, Emma, Jane, Liz, Sue and Sarah, Greg and Nigel, and our supervisors; Sarah and Brian who have continued to give their time and skills. Liz has returned to the UK. We miss her and wish her well.

Training courses: The Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies ran from April to July. The Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, a recognised qualification, started in September. It is a 2-year course with 420 hours of tutor contact time and 120 credits towards entry on to a degree course. All the courses are awarded by CPCAB (Counselling and Psychotherapy Awarding Body). This is attracting people, who want to enhance the work they already do or are considering a change in career. However, Philippi Guernsey continue to look particularly for those with a faith background, who might volunteer for us, if they are interested in this type of training and work.

A Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills course is planned for February 2017. Please email us at philippi.g@cwgsy.net for an information leaflet.

Friends of Philippi Guernsey: This Christmas, we are launching Friends of Philippi Guernsey, as part of our efforts to raise money to fund our on-going training programme. We would be delighted if you could see your way clear to donating a small amount (maybe on an annual basis). If you might like to consider supporting us in this way, please contact us for a membership application form and a blank standing order instruction form. Any donation, however small, will be greatly appreciated.

Fundraising: A good number of companies responded to our appeal for funds to enable the Level 4 course to run and we are very grateful for their continued support. We thank them all.

CPD (Continuing Professional Development): There are CPD events run by outside organisations, which are available to us. We have had less of our own this year.

Philippi Trust International: There was a meeting of Philippi representatives in Germany in November. The next Philippi Trust International conference will be in Guernsey in November 2017.

Thank you for your continued support and prayer.

Very best wishes for a Happy Christmas and a Peaceful and Healthy 2017.
