Christmas Newsletter 2013

Dear Friends & Supporters

Counselling: This year has been our busiest for counselling, with 137 referrals so far. The Primary Care Mental Health and Wellbeing Service continue to be extremely busy, which is why we are getting a lot more referrals. Thanks go to our counsellors; Margaret, Amanda, Annabel, Carmel, Christine, Emma, Fiona, Jane, Janet, Jo, Julie, Liz, Sue, and Sarah, Colin, Greg, Nigel and Tom and our supervisors; Margaret, Maura Sarah and Brian, who all continue to give their time and skills. We have still been able to allocate clients to counsellors, and are virtually at capacity, so have a short waiting list.

With so many counsellors, we are in need of more venues in which to see clients, so would welcome suggestions from any churches or chapels, which have a spare room available during the week that they might be able to offer us. We are appreciative of the use of rooms and facilities at St Andrew’s Church Barn, Les Camps Methodist Church, Trinity Church, The King’s Barn Mission in Rue du Gelee, Bordeaux Mission and Galaad Methodist Church.

Administration: Rosalind continues to keep the office and Library under control and Lucy is looking after the designated mobile telephone and is now assessing the new clients. We are very thankful for their help.

Training courses: The Advanced Counselling Course, level 4, will finish next February.

Fundraising: We have been able to fully fund the cost of the level 4 course and are indebted to the various companies, including HSBC Private Bank, Willow Trust, Collins Stewart, Rothschild, the B4-8 Club, Schroders, Investec, who have made generous donations to make this possible.

Rosalind worked very hard to organise another successful Quiz for us in May, which raised over £1000.  We are grateful to Ros, and Cherry McMillen for her support in being quizmaster.

We are very thankful to Collins Stewart and the Soroptomists who generously sponsored my Supervisor’s Course, which started in February and finished in July.

In the Autumn, we hope to run a Supervisors’ course over here, as we are greatly in need for more supervisors.

We would like to thank you for your continued support.

All that remains for me to do, is to wish you all a blessed Christmas and a Healthy New Year
