Counselling: This year has been busy throughout and the number of new referrals to date is 172. The Primary Care Mental Health and Wellbeing Service continues to be extremely busy and consequently we are getting more referrals. Therefore, understandably, we have a waiting list, although the counsellors are working very hard to keep up with it.
Training courses: We are planning to run a Level 2 Course starting in April with a trainer from the UK. It will be a week in April, a week in May & a Friday and Saturday in June and July to give the contact time of 90 – 100 hours. Please contact us or pass on the information.
Listening and Responding Day: we hope to run another on Saturday 7th February.
BIG Celebration: on June 14th, we had a party at the Hotel Jerbourg on a beautiful sunny day. We were celebrating and awarding the Advanced Counselling Course certificates to the 9 successful Level 4 students, acknowledging Margaret’s retirement and recognizing 10 years since Philippi Guernsey LBG was officially launched. We were privileged to have Malcolm and Jennifer come over to be with us for the weekend.
Margaret has been gradually reducing her workload over the last few months. She was nominated and shortlisted to one of 3, for the Guernsey Community Foundation Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement, which is an accolade. We congratulate Margaret on this achievement and wish her a happy retirement, which gives her the time to do the things that she would like to do.
Philippi Trust International: a couple of us went to Ireland in October to meet up with members of the Philippi Trust from the UK, Namibia, Germany and the USA. Unfortunately, the representatives from South Africa were unable to get funding in time to come and Malcolm had hoped to join us, but his health did not permit the journey. Skype helped cover the miles. The purpose was to establish a way forward to protect Malcolm’s original vision of the Philippi Trust for the future. There was a real sense of purpose and unity over the weekend.
Thanks go to our counsellors; Margaret, Amanda, Annabel, Carmel, Christine, Dilnia, Emma, Fiona, Jane, Jo, Liz, Sue, and Sarah, Colin, Greg, Nigel and our supervisors; Margaret, Maura, Sarah and Brian, who all continue to give their time and skills. We have been joined recently by Beckie. Bebe, another Julie and Zoe joined us earlier in the summer. We welcome them and appreciate their help. Colin and Julie left us to go back to the UK. We were sorry to see them go and wish them well in the future.
Fundraising: Rosalind organised another successful Quiz for us in May, which was well attended and raised £1500. Cherry McMillen was our quizmaster again and we thank her for her continued support. The Waitrose Community Matters green token scheme at Rohais raised £173 in September.
Administration: Rosalind is still managing to keep the office and Library under control. Emma has the phone and their help is much appreciated.
We would like to thank you for your continued support. Wishing you all a Happy Christmas and a peaceful and healthy 2015.
