New Year Newsletter 2020

Counselling:  There were 134 new referrals during 2019. Once again, thanks go to our counsellors; Amanda, Bebe, Christine, Emma, Helen, Mandy, Sue, Tracey and Sarah, John and Nigel, and our supervisors; Sarah and Brian, who have continued to give their time and skills. Gradually, it has been necessary to widen the selection of supervisors to cover the increase in workload. Once again, it has been a challenging year for us generally, which has limited the number of counselling hours we have been able to offer, so we continue to have a waiting list for counselling.

Training courses: The Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills started in January and completes this month. Our Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling started in April. It is a 2-year course with 420 hours of tutor contact time and 120 credits towards entry on to a degree course. All the courses are awarded by CPCAB (Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body). We welcome our trainees: Ashley, Becky, Grace, Kate, Lucy, Susanna, Taru and Teresa. Another trainee, Hayley, is training in the UK and is on placement with us, so we welcome her as well.

A Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies will hopefully start later in the Spring, providing there are enough students. The courses are attracting people, who want to enhance the work they already do or are considering a change in career.

Continuing Professional Development  (CPD): Dr Pauline Yong led a 2 day workshop on Neuroscience : the 3 Rs of Self. Wendy Haslam ran a workshop on Sexual Trauma. Both were well attended.

Fundraising: Friends of Philippi Guernsey:  Christmas 2016 saw the launch of Friends of Philippi Guernsey, as part of our efforts to raise money to help fund our on-going training programme. Quite a few people have started supporting us and we would be delighted if you would like to join in by donating a small amount (maybe on an annual basis). If so, please contact us for a membership application form and a blank standing order instruction form. Any donation, however small, will be greatly appreciated.
