Counselling: Last year we had 130 new referrals, which is just 5 less than 2015. Just over 900 hours of counselling were delivered and 88 hours of supervision. Our waiting list has decreased for a number of reasons, which is good news for clients. Once again, thanks go to our counsellors; Amanda, Annabel, Bebe, Carole, Christine, Emma, Jane, Sue and Sarah, Greg and Nigel, and our supervisors; Sarah and Brian who have continued to give their time and skills. Beckie rejoined us just before Christmas and we welcome her back.
AGM Tuesday 4th April at 18.15 at Les Cotils: do let us know if you would like to come and join us for a meal afterwards.
Training courses: A Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills course started in February with 9 students. It is a 12 day course run in 3 day modules over 6 months. We are planning to start a Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies in February 2018, which will be another 12 day course run in 2 and 3 day modules over 6 months. Please check our website www.philippi.org.gg for further information as it becomes available or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will also be looking at how we can run another Level 2.
The Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, a recognised qualification, started in September. It is a 2-year course with 420 hours of tutor contact time and 120 credits towards entry on to a degree course. All the courses are awarded by CPCAB (Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body). This is attracting people, who want to enhance the work they already do or are considering a change in career. However, Philippi Guernsey continue to look particularly for those with a faith background, who might volunteer for us, if they are interested in this type of training and work.
Philippi Trust International Conference: Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th November at Les Cotils. We have 3 excellent speakers, Dr Frank Wills, Lindsay Schofield and Dr Pauline Yong, who are each leading a 2 day workshop. Lindsay’s topic “Compassion Fatigue –what is it and how to avoid it” may be of interest not only to therapists, but also pastoral care workers. This is all part of looking after ourselves. Please check our website www.philippi.org.gg for further information as it becomes available or email us at email@example.com.
Fundraising: Friends of Philippi Guernsey: Last Christmas, we launched Friends of Philippi Guernsey, as part of our efforts to raise money to fund our on-going training programme. We would be delighted if you could see your way clear to donating a small amount (maybe on an annual basis). If you might like to consider supporting us in this way, please contact us for a membership application form and a blank standing order instruction form. Any donation, however small, will be greatly appreciated. A few people have joined Friends of Philippi Guernsey and we are very grateful for their support.
CPD (Continuing Professional Development): We hope to run some CPD events of our own this year culminating in the conference.
